Conversational AI for Depression Management
Funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), $1,049,998, 3 years
With Dr. Farrokh Alemi, we are evaluating conversational AI for depression management: exploring how large language models can improve antidepressant recommendations and patient outcomes. The project develops patient simulations and risk-assessment methods to test whether conversational agents give trustworthy guidance on antidepressant selection. Understanding Chronic Pain through Language
NIH-funded collaboration, $4.65 million (multi-team)
The lab is part of a George Mason research team studying chronic knee pain, using motivational interviewing and information extraction to capture patients' lived experiences with chronic pain in their own words. Our work develops annotation methods and extraction models for these interview transcripts. Details in the George Mason announcement.
